1. Applications are invited for the following posts: -
i) Director, Centre of Excellence in Psychology, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
ii) Director, Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
iii) Director, Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry, University of Peshawar.
iv) Director, Centre of Excellence in Arts and Design, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.
v) Director, Centre of Excellence in Historical & Cultural Research, QAU, Islamabad.
vi) Director, Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.
vii) Director, Area Study Centre for South Asia, University of the Punjab, Lahore.
viii) Director, Area Study Centre for Far East and South East Asia, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.
ix) Director, Area Study Centre for Middle East and Arab Countries, University of Balochistan, Quetta.
x) Director, Pakistan Study Centre, University of Peshawar, Peshawar.

2. The eligibility of candidates will be determined in the light of following criteria: -
i) UPPER AGE LIMIT: 55 years (relaxable maximum by 2 years on the recommendation of the concerned Selection Board.)
ii) In the first instance, those candidates will be considered who meet HEC criteria for the post of Professor (BS-21) and the candidate selected from among them will be appointment as Director in BS-21.
iii) In case no candidate is found eligible/suitable for appointment as Director (BS-21), then, those candidates will be considered who meet HEC criteria for the post of Associate Professor (BS-20) and the candidate selected from among them will be appointed as Director in BS-20.
iv) HEC criteria for the post of Professor and Associate Professor are given below: -
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST OF PROFESSOR
QUALIFICATION: Ph. D. in the relevant field from HEC recognized University/Institution.
EXPERIENCE:15 years teaching /research experience (with at least 8 years experience at the post-Ph. D. level) in HEC recognized university or a post-graduate institution or professional experience in the relevant field in a national or international organization.
OR
10-years post-Ph. D. teaching/ research experience in a HEC recognized university or a post-graduate institution or professional experience in the relevant field in a national or international organization.
Minimum Number of Publications: 15 research publications (with at least 5 publications in the last 5 years) in journals recognized by the HEC.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST OF ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
QUALIFICATION: Ph. D. in the relevant field from HEC recognized University/Institution.
EXPERIENCE:10 years teaching/ research experience (with at least 4 years experience at the post-Ph. D. level) in HEC recognized university or a post-graduate institution or professional experience in the relevant field in a national or international organization
OR
5-years post-Ph. D. teaching/ research experience in HEC recognized university or a post-graduate institution or professional experience in the relevant field in a national or international organization.
Minimum Number of Publications: 10 research publications (with at least 5 publications in last 5 years) in journals recognized by the HEC.
3. TENURE, TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE AS DIRECTOR:
The appointment would be made for a tenure of four years. If the selected candidate does not belong to the centre concerned the appointment would be made either on deputation or on contract basis.
4. PERMISSION OF TENURE TRACK SYSTEM FOR THE SELECTED CANDIDATES:
Director would be initially appointed either in BS-21 or in BS-20 as explained at points ii and iii of para 2 above. However, once appointed as Director, the incumbent may apply for Tenure Track System to the relevant authority/forum.
5. COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF CANDIDATES.
While evaluating candidates following criteria will be applied: -
a) Length of Service (Maximum 10 marks) (W x No. of years)
{Lecturership / equivalent (w=0.1), Assistant Professorship/ equivalent(w=0.2), Associate Professorship/equivalent(w=0.3) Professorship/ equivalent(w=0.4)}.
b) Research Publications (maximum 30 marks)
(Papers / books / monograph / patents / approved crop varieties.)
c) Academic Performance (Maximum 25 Marks)
(Number of Ph.D. and M. Phil produced, HEC recognized Awards.)
d) Post – Ph. D. Qualification (maximum 5 marks)
e) Administrative Experience (maximum 5 marks)
f) Interview (maximum 25 marks)
6. The selection criteria, terms & conditions etc. mentioned at points 2 through 5 above will also apply to the post of Professor, Chair on Quaid-i-Azam & Freedom Movement, QAU except that for this post only those candidates will be considered who fulfill the criteria set by HEC for the post of Professor (BS-21) and the selected person will be appointed as Professor (BS-21).
7. Interested candidates may apply for the post of their interest. They must give information (with documentary proof) on each point mentioned at para 5/above on the proforma to be down loaded from Ministry of Education’s website(www.moe.gov.pk.). Proforma may also be obtained from the office of the undersigned. Every candidate is also required to supply copy of his/her Secondary School Certificate, Ph.D. degree and Ph.D. thesis. Candidates are also requested to give (i) Postal Address, (ii) Telephone Number, (iii) Cell Number and (iv) e-mail address in their applications.
8. Application (alongwith non-refundable Postal Order of Rs.1000/- as application processing fee in favour of the undersigned) must be received at the following address latest by 10 July 2010.
